Patterns of Thought

A creative conversation between Helen Kocis-Edwards & Kate Gorringe-Smith

Physical, behavioural and temporal patterns define the human and natural worlds. Helen Kocis Edwards and Kate Gorringe-Smith explore their interest in the human condition and our relationship with nature to create individual and collaborative 2D and 3D prints, artists books and works on paper.
'Patterns of Thought' was my first experience of true collaboration - working together with another artist on creating several pieces of work. We first made one large (c. 2 x 2m) collage of both our works, narrowing down the colour palette to reduce the inherent busyness of so many images in close proximity. In the end, 'Patterns of Thought' also varied in depth, as some collaged items were built up higher than others, and we also had suspended images in the LWOO creating a dynamic element as viewers walked past.
